ACR39U PocketMate II — compact USB-C smart card reader
The ACR39U PocketMate II is ACS’s pocket-size smart card reader — no larger than a USB stick — that folds out to reveal a full-sized contact card slot via a swivel motion. It houses the proven ACR39 core, enabling demanding smart card applications and reliable data transfers.
Key technical highlights: USB 2.0 Full Speed with reversible USB Type-C connector, CCID and PC/SC compatibility, and driver support for Windows, Linux, macOS and Android — providing hassle-free plug-and-play integration.
Supported cards & typical uses:
- ISO 7816 Class A / B / C contact smart cards
- Microprocessor cards (T=0, T=1) and memory cards
- Government / PKI cards including CAC, SIPRNET, J-LIS
The swivel design protects the card contact when stored and provides an ergonomic, pocketable form factor when deployed. Typical card read/write throughput for the ACR39 family is in the hundreds of kb/s (PocketMate II TSP indicates up to ~600 kb/s).

Note on driver (tachograph) cards:
Several retailers list ACR39 variants (or bundles) as compatible with driver card (tachograph) reading - in practice the hardware supports ISO 7816 contact cards, but correct tachograph data extraction requires appropriate software and sometimes a specific model/configuration.
